Let me introduce you to one of my absolute favourite desserts. What I love about that is that although I’ve found my ideal flavour and topping combination, the options are endless so you can customize it with your own favourite flavours and toppings.
What You Will Need
- Yogurt of choice – I used 0% Greek yogurt but any yogurt or dairy-free yogurt will also work great.
- Optional – protein powder. I use this to add flavour and up the protein content but it’s not essential. You could also use flavour drops or stir in the nut butter if your yogurt needs sweetening up.
- Almond butter – You can also use peanut butter, cashew butter, or nut butter of choice, I just have an addiction to almond right now
- Chocolate – I use dark chocolate but milk chocolate or white chocolate will both work as well. You only need about 1-2 tbsp of chocolate chips OR 2-3 squares.
- Optional – Coconut oil. Just a small amount really helps to melt the chocolate into a smooth consistency
- Granola or some nuts (something crunchy)
- Flaky sea salt
- Optional – Any extras or swaps… fruit, honey, maple syrup, cookie dough chunks, caramel sauce, etc
HOW TO MAKE
- Load up your bowl with your preferred yogurt, plain, flavoured up to you! How much to add? Also up to you! A small bowl might be 150g or a bigger bowl might be 250+g. How peckish are you?
- Add some flavour to your yogurt – I add protein powder here and stir it all in. I’ve also added a spoon of peanut butter in the past to make it a bit more nutty. You could add some fruit (fresh or frozen at this point too). If you’re adding anything, mix well.
- Melt your chocolate in microwave in 30-second intervals till smooth. I add about ½ tsp of coconut oil before I microwave for ideal silky smoothness. Once melted, drizzle it over the top of the yogurt. The chocolate will quickly start to harden once it comes into contact with the cold
- Add Your Toppings! I personally sprinkle some granola over the top, along with a drizzle of almond butter and the magic ingredient.. flaked sea salt… SOO good. Sometimes I even put the nut butter on BEFORE the chocolate to give me a surprise to dig in to.
- Put the bowl in the freezer for around 15 minutes to completely harden. There is something pretty fun, maybe childlike fun about using a spoon and whacking into the shell so please give it a go and let me know what you come up with!
